Melbourne Cup Week 2026: Where to Go After the Track Closes
The Melbourne Cup Carnival runs from Saturday 31 October through to Saturday 7 November, with Cup Day itself falling on Tuesday 3 November. It’s the biggest week in the city’s social calendar — four days of racing, a week of parties, and a CBD full of people who’ve dressed up and don’t want the day to end early.
What’s On Cup Week
Cup Day itself is the marquee event, but the whole week runs hot — Derby Day, Oaks Day and Stakes Day each pull their own crowds, and the CBD fills up every afternoon as the trackside crowd pours back into the city, still dressed up and looking for somewhere to keep the day going.
Especially After Cup Day
Once the track closes and the fashion’s been judged, King Street is exactly where the Cup Week crowd ends up. Grab a table, settle in, and let the day roll into night — our stage lineup runs late right through the carnival, and function rooms are available for club groups wanting their own space to celebrate.
But Don’t Just Come the One Night
Cup Week is once a year, but King Street isn’t. Once the marquee’s packed away and the fashion’s back in the wardrobe, we’re still here every night — same girls, same energy. Come back any night of the week and see why so many racing trips end up as regulars.
